AVI Systems Ltd Wins GOLD!!!
AVI is pleased to announce that it has gained the Microsoft Gold Certified Partner status and joined a group of elite Microsoft professionals in obtain this certification. This is a major achievement for AVI as we strive to provide the best service to our customers.
Windows Server 2008, Exchange Server 2007, Windows Small Business Server 2008
We are currently testing the release versions of Windows Server 2008 and Exchange Server 2007. We will shortly advise all our customers when it is safe to install this new version. We also test a beta version of the Windows Small Business Server 2008 (due to be release in the second half of this year).
Customers are advised that there are some compatibility issues with the newly released software.

Windows Vista Service pack 1
Microsoft has release it first service pack for the Windows Vista operating system. This service pack has over 100 updates and hot fixes. Vista’s performance is dramatically enhanced with this update.
We would recommend all Vista users to download this update ASAP.
Windows XP Service pack 3
What Is in Service Pack 3
Windows XP SP3 includes all previously released Windows XP updates, including security updates and hot fixes, and select out-of-band releases. Windows XP SP2 was released in August 2004. Since then, Microsoft has released hundreds of updates. Windows XP SP3 includes all of these updates. Through Windows Update, the download size varies but, it is typically 70 megabytes (MB), depending on the computer’s configuration. Through the Download Centre, the download size is approximately 580 MB.
AVI New Services
AVI is please to announce two new annual services:
AVI DRT – Data Restore Test
• Simulate file corruption on server.
• Perform a restore of Email and file data from previous backup’s to server.
• Produce compliance certificate for insurance purposes.
UPS Annual shutdown test
• Perform a self test and calibration on the UPS.
• Simulate a power failure, and make sure the software functions correctly. Check for firmware and software updates for the UPS.
• Check for any irregularities in the power supply to the UPS, and advice the customer.
• Check the UPS and battery age, and advice the customer.
• Check the load on the UPS, to ensure the recommended level is not exceeded.
• Check the Application shutdown if configured correctly

AVI Becomes a DELL Partner
AVI is please to announce that it has become a Dell Partner. This will enable us to provide our customers with better offers on a wide range of computers, laptops and peripherals.
Spam and Spyware set to double in next year
Spam Email and Spyware volumes rose by more than 50 per cent in the first quarter of 2008. Some customers experienced a 200 per cent increase in spam Email.

The end is HI for HD-HVD
Sony’s Blu-ray DVD Format Victorious in high definition war
It looks like the Format war is finally over after some months of uncertainty Blu-Ray looks like it has triumphed over HD-DVD.
Many consumers have chosen not to purchase HD movie players due to the movie industry being split over the two formats meaning some movies are on Blu-Ray and others on HD DVD. The past couple of weeks have seen a lot of movie studios announce that they will be dropping HD DVD in favour of Blu-Ray.
AVI Launches Microsoft Training Courses
We have currently set-up standard, intermediate and advance Courses for Word, Excel, and outlook 2003. We will be shortly releasing our office 2007 courses. We can also offer customised training courses for our customers.
